What is Footy 4 Fun?
Specifically developed with kids aged between 7 to 12 years in mind, it’s all about playing with your friends, learning new skills and getting your hands on the ball - no pressure, just fun!
So as a club we nurture and encourage. With a rural location that caters to a large geographical area and our family friendly environment, the Brisbane Valley Rattlers AFC is the perfect place for your kids to learn, grow and make friends…..and of course play Australian Rules Football.
Under 8.5’s - Mixed
Is the next step after Auskick and Superstars footy (but you don’t need to have played either to join Under 8.5’s). Play under safe conditions with modified rules, playing zones, smaller fields 80m x 60m, no tackling and with 9 a-side teams. This is a mixed team competition where the emphasis is on FUN
Under 9.5’s and 10.5’s - Girls only & Mixed
With a girls only Under 9.5’s competition being introduced in 2021 and the normal mixed team competition, this age group starts to expand on their skills and introduces tackling by using the ‘wrap tackle’ technique - this is a modified version of tackling where the kids are bear-hugged and are not taken to ground. The playing fields are also bigger 100m x 80m and there are still zones but this just adds to the fun!
Under 11.5’s - Mixed
The ground just keeps getting bigger and the restriction of zones is taken away. This age group is in a mixed team environment where correct tackling technique is taught and full AFL rules are introduced. Game On
Under 11.5’s - Girls only
This one is for the girls - a modified rules competition, with a smaller field, bear-hug tackling and 9-a-side teams. The girls really show us what they’re made of but in a fun and safe environment.
